A liquor party, that was organized at the conference hall of Bardiya District Education Office (DEO) on Monday evening, has drawn wide criticism. Liquor bottles and food material were found scattered in the hall on Tuesday. The misuse of the conference hall reportedly took place in collusion with District Education Officer Jit Bahadur Shah and other officials. Misuse of the government facility for a drinking party came to light after service seekers on Tuesday were able to smell the liquor. Visitors then took photos of the scene. Misuse of the hall by DEO officials for organizing a drinking party is condemnable, said a teacher who wanted to remain anonymous. DEO Shah admitted the misuse. "It was in celebration of a staffer's promotion. Had the function been organized at a hotel, it could have been costlier," he said. He further argued that the office hall was used by office staff only. After locals came to learn about the manner, they urged the bodies concerned to take action against the officials involved. Meanwhile, Nodnath Trital of Kurule, Tenpa VDC-5, Dhankutta has filed a complaint at 'Hello Sarkar', using the photos showing the scattered liquor bottles. He has demanded action against the officials involved.
