The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on Friday arrested 29-year-old Niraj Kumar Chaudhary aka Niraj baba on charge of character assassination and blackmailing a girl by posting and sharing her lewd photo on Facebook.
Based on the complaints registered by the victim, Chaudhary, originally from Kamane of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-8, was arrested from Buddha Chowk of Hetauda. According to SP Tarini Prasad Lamsal of CIB, Chaudhary sexually and psychologically harassed the victim girl, who was his longtime Facebook friend.
Chaudhary had sent friend request to the victim girl while he was in Saudi Arabia as a migrant worker and had met the girl after she returned back to Kathmandu.
“We have learnt that the accused invited the girl to a hotel room, intoxicated her by mixing drugs in food and captured some of her photos in compromising state,” SP Lamsal said.
After the incident, the accused frequently threatened the girl of posting those photos on Facebook unless she allowed him to fulfill his sexual desires, according to the police.
But after she refused the proposal, Chaudhary posted those photos on Facebook wall of the girl and shared them among his Facebook friends and warned the girl over phone of physical action if she revealed his activities.
The accused will be charged under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2007. If proven guilty, Chaudhary will be slapped a fine of up to Rs 100,000 or five years of imprisonment or both.
