Kathmandu, Feb 12: An association of Dalit journalists has been constituted to organise Dalit journalists across the country and protect and promote their professional rights.
A gathering of Dalit journalists in the capital Friday formed the 11-member Nepal Dalit Journalists Association headed by Pabitra Sunar of Nagarik Daily.
Gopal Baraili (Commander Post) is the vice chair, Laxman Darnal (Gorkhapatra) general secretary, Santosh Gandharva (Nepalbani Network) secretary and Buddhi Bishwakarma (Radio Himalaya) is treasure in the Association.
Binod Bishwakarma ( ABC Television), Krishna Rijal ( Naya Patrika), Anil Pariyar ( Radio Kantipur), Biru Nepali ( Radio Jagaran), Kamala Rasaili ( Radio Nepal) and Bishwas Khadgathoki ( Naya Patrika) are the members.
The gathering decided to hold the Dalits national conference within the next six months with forming the district bodies, according to Sunar.
